Success Story #1

Chloe

Chloe's adventures started here at Noah's Ark Veterinary Hospital December 31, 2009 as a 6 week old puppy. From her first day with her new family she had a rough start and its name was Kennel Cough. After seeing Dr. Haumschild Chloe found out she had kennel cough and a grade 2 heart murmur which isn't uncommon with puppies. But when you are only 1 pound 8 ounces kennel cough can really get you down and with Dr. Haumschild's help Chloe was on her way to recovery.

Then 9 days later poor little Chloe was rushed to Noah's after her family found her unresponsive. Dr. Haumschild quickly knew that Chloe was hypoglycemic and needed to get her blood sugar up. With fluid therapy, feedings every hour and the love of the staff Chloe was again on the road to recovery.

Over the next 2 months Chloe appeared to be a normal puppy, playing and being spoiled rotten by every one that met her. Then a very unfortunate event, Chloe was rushed again to Noah's after having a seizure. At this point Dr. Haumschild had some ideas about what could be happening and Liver Shunt was at the top of her list.

After consulting with Dr. Forman and Dr. Schertel it was a definite liver shunt. Chloe went to MedVet for surgery 13 days after her first seizure. Dr. Schertel fixed her liver shunt and spayed her in 26 minutes which for a 2 pound 6 ounce puppy is amazingly fast.

Chloe is now a 9 month old Teacup Pomeranian who weighs 4 pounds 1 ounce and her biggest problem is which toy she is going to chew on and who's lap she will nap in.

Dear Pet Owner -

While the above description of Chloe's life-challenges provides evidence of the superb clinical approach taken by the professionals at Noah's Ark, it is by no means adequate in relating the personal attention, extraordinary care and passion these folks have for their charges.

As we later learned, Chloe's life expectancy at 6 weeks of age was 5 years. Thanks to the exemplary diagnostic skills, extraordinary intervention strategies and consistent care Chloe received through the Noah's Ark organization, Chloe's life expectancy is now the Pomeranian-normal 13-15 years.

Further, she is a bouncing, happy puppy with bright eyes, and an engaging personality exhibiting curiosity that knows no bounds. In short, she is a purring, prancing Pomeranian!

When we take Chloe to Noah's Ark for routine visits, she just knows when we pull into the parking lot. Her ears perk, her Pom-purring begins, and the tug-on-the-leash is a sure indication that she can't wait to get inside to see the professionals who set her on a healthy path. She knows she has been given a special life-changing gift, and she LOVES to visit!

And, why not? For example, Dr. Kris Haumschild stayed with Chloe for 48 straight hours during the seizure episodes, stabilizing her, comforting her and orchestrating the liver shunt surgery that saved her life. Her dedication and tenacity is way beyond amazing. Working in tandem with the equally extraordinary Dr. Kim West and the excellent staff of kennel technicians and other veterinary professionals, Chloe is extremely well served and well cared for ... and she knows it!

Trying to describe the care, passion and compassion by which care is delivered at Noah's Ark is a formidable task. But, like us, you will see the Noah's Ark expertise, energy and dedication in action "24/7" - - quite literally 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week - - should you trust your pet to these amazing people. We know!

It is with great pleasure that we whole-heartedly recommend Noah's Ark to you as a step above other Columbus area veterinary organizations where we have had contact over the past 37 years. We are grateful, and will continue to be grateful for the privilege of knowing a group of professionals who are truly making a difference ... one pet at a time. Thank you, Noah's Ark!

With warm wishes for continued success,

Success Story #2

Dear Noah’s Ark Staff,

Being a typical beagle, our “Babe” decided to woof down a chewy bone too quickly. The next thing we knew she was trying to throw up, but nothing was happening. We rushed her over to the great folks at Noah’s Ark. After an X-ray, it was determined that the bone turned into “mush” in her stomach and was blocking her intestines.

It took two very dedicated vets almost four hours to physically pick out the mass from her stomach. Babe stayed several days, but was refusing water and food. Family members came over to try to get her to eat and drink with no success. It was very scary for the family. The vet thought she was just homesick and was wise enough to recommend we take her home for the day to see if we could get her to eat and drink. It worked and our Babe slowly made progress and returned to her normal “ornery” self.

I have had many vets over the years and feel that this group including all the vet techs, assistants and staff are not only top notch, but really care about you and your dog. I can’t thank them enough for saving our Babe’s life and continuing with wonderful care when we need them.

A huge thanks to your wonderful and talented vets and all the caring members of your staff.
